Haryana gets award for excellence in e-governance

The Haryana government was benefited with the award for their magnificent work in the department of e-governance at the 'State of the States Conclave 2016' effectively organized by India Today in New Delhi, an official stated on Saturday.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley gave away the award. On behalf of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, his additional Principal Secretary Rakesh Gupta sustained the award.

Congratulating Gupta, Jaitley appreciated the work done in the field of e-governance in the past two years in Haryana.

Gupta informed the Union Minister about the number of e-governance advantages captured up by the Khattar Government and said that the Chief Minister desires to convert Haryana into a digitally empowered society and knowledgeable economy.

The bureaucrat said that due to the personal interest taken by Khattar, Haryana that was earlier not so well informed at national level in terms of e-governance, has emerged as a front ranking state.

Gupta said that the state government has lined up IT vision to Digital India framework.

He said that under 'One-State One-View' initiative, an integrated SRDB (State Residents Data base) has been created. This initiative would safeguard de-duplication of records.

Linking data of each citizen with Aadhar has enabled the state government in recognizing those 6.25 lakh consumers who were taking both kerosene oil at sponsored rates from Fair Price Shops while availing the benefit of LPG subsidy.

About 1.5 lakh ration cards were found to be deceptive. The initiative has assisted in checking stealing of allowance.

By linking admission of students in schools with their Aadhar numbers, about 4.5 lakh admissions were found to be bogus, Gupta said. This has helped in checking waste of government money be it scholarship, mid day meal or other benefits.

Gupta claimed that enhancing the Aadhar scheme the Haryana government has covered 100 percent of its population according to 2015 population estimates.
